Community-Driven Media Production
Who are we?
Aspire Media TV, a part of Aspire Media N.I. CIC and supported by Focus on Family, Ballysally, aims to revolutionise community-driven media production and ownership within the communities of Ballysally & Millburn.
Why did we decide to start Aspire Media TV?
These areas have long suffered from negative external perceptions and inward attitudes, often exacerbated by media portrayals. For instance, the 2012 TV series ‘The Estate’ by BBC depicted the entire Ballysally area in a highly negative light, while news broadcasts predominantly focused on problems and criminality, overlooking the positive aspects of the community.
How did we do it?
In response to this, a dedicated group of local individuals formed Aspire Media N.I. CIC. Supported by Focus on Family, Ballysally, we established Aspire Media TV.
Initially funded by The National Lottery Community Fund for Northern Ireland, we have grown since we started to develop content like no other in the area.
Based in Ballysally, this digital media channel is open to all members of the local community. While we have a committed team, we warmly welcome others to join us!
What we do
Our ethos is community-driven media production and ownership. We therefore invite you to collaborate with via our production arm, Aspire Media Studios!
We are always looking for people to get involved, both in front of the camera or behind the scenes:
- Aspiring local presenters.
- Future camera operators
- Sound operators
- Editors
- Content Checkers
- Digital Uploader
Together, we can create community-driven content across Ballysally, Millburn and the wider Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area, revitalizing local news within our region.
What sets us apart is our commitment to empowering everyone to promote their local area through community-driven media production. You can engage with us through direct project collaboration, where our team will film in your local area or host you and your team at our Ballysally facility.
